Simple yet elegant, community-focused, and clean, Soufriere Guesthouse is one of the cheapest accommodation I found in Dominica. I stayed at their guesthouse, located in the south of the island, for two weeks.

Here’s why I loved the guesthouse:

• The private room I booked with a queen size bed was less than $65 a night, and had a private bathroom.

• The guesthouse is located a short walk to the best snorkeling & diving site in Dominica.

• The view of the mountains from the hammocks on the balcony is wonderful.

• The guesthouse is located close to great hiking trails and two sulfur springs.

• The owners and other guests were really cool.

I will put Soufriere Guesthouse in the category of a very nice “hostel.” There is a well-stocked communal kitchen (with COVID-19 protocols in place), and there are also dormitory rooms available for a family or group of friends for USD 20 a person. It’s a great place to meet other travelers.
